Five Minute Friday: Tired

5

December 2, 2011 by Beth Hess

It’s morning, so I am. Tired.

I am busy, so I am. Tired.

I stayed up too late, so I am. Tired.

I am employee, friend, wife, Mom, helper, teacher, coach, feeder of the dogs, cleaner of the dishes, folder of the laundry, filler of the pantry…, so I am. Tired.

I am human, striving to be more. Better. More acceptable to other humans. More, more, more of I don’t even know what most days, so I am. Tired.

And then. I am still.

“Come to me all who are weary, and I will give you rest.”

So I do.

Rest.

After reading your post – I took a deep breathe and rested for a few minutes. This morning God reminded me in Jesus Calling that He proves peace – HIs peace. I am resting in that promise today.

  2. Hi there! Visiting from the Gypsy Mama’s site.

The Bible mentions rest several times, so I am assuming that God considers it to be important. I am so glad that He promises us rest. I count on it.

I wrote about that verse too! Aren’t we lucky that we have somewhere to go and find rest?

Yes, I know this feeling of tiredness all too well. I, too, am grateful for the rest He offers us all.

  5. […] Maybe I’m the only one who needed to hear it. Somehow, I don’t think so. Especially when I opened my Five-Minute Friday assignment to read “Tired.” Write 5 Minutes on the Topic of Tired. (Which I did here.) […]
