Five Minute Friday: Brave

March 16, 2012 by Beth Hess

Jesus said, “Follow Me.” And they did. I’m not sure I know a better definition of brave.

Almost 7 years ago now, God said to me, “Watch and see what I will do.” I’ve been watching. But as I closely read the calling of the disciples again, I see the subtle difference. Disciples wondered what it could mean to be Fishers of Men. Jesus said “Come and see.” One disciple to another. “We have found the Messiah. Come & See.”

Watch. Come.

I can watch from here. On my butt. Sipping a cold drink.

To come I have to move. On my feet. Following without a map.

God has been calling me to do more than Watch & See. He wants me to Come & See.

I cannot wait to see what God is reveal to you as you ready yourself to go and be an active follower.

  2. I love the distinction you made between “watching” and “coming”. Watching requires thought, coming requires action. May we all be brave enough to heed the call to come and follow Him. Beautiful thoughts today.
